Bellville: Steak
& Ribs
KC's Steak & Ribs
I made my reservation for a room near the
Mid-Ohio race course the day before my trip and got the last room in
town was at the Day's Inn. I expected to be disappointed in the room
and I was.
I also expected to find another highway
exit full of disappointing chain restaurants. I was pleasantly
surprised to find KC's. It caught my eye (I do have a trained
eye for a good place) and I found refuge from my dark, dank motel room
in the KC's lounge.
The first night I had the ribs
(excellent), a Greek salad for lunch the next day (excellent) and
liver & onions the next night for dinner (excellent). Nice bar
too.
Just off I-71.
Columbus: Near the Airport
Steak & Ribs
If your hotel is on Taylor Road, you'd go
here because it is the only place around.
The good news? It was pretty good.
I wasn't very hungry but had the ribs appetizer and I could tell they
do a nice job (moist, chewy, crusty, tender, the sauce was a little
too sweet for my taste.)
A nice bar and I had a delightful
bartender (Sally?).
This place caught my eye. It looked
like a friendly neighborhood joint and it was.
Better than decent food and a friendly
bar.

West Jefferson: Home Cooking
Henry's Restaurant
Here is a place I'd not have ventured into
if I hadn't heard about it. I'm guessing it used to be the
restaurant that adjoined a gas station. The gas station has long
been closed and nobody did much of anything to gussy up the place
since.
Very good home cooking. Very good
desserts. Worth a diversion from the highway. (it's about
20 miles west of Columbus.)
